Complaints regarding Tentoeleven, Holiday Cottage, Church St, Henllan.

A number of Residents attended the Council meeting to inform the Council of issues they were experiencing with Tentoeleven, Church Street. These include, parking is a nuisance as there are a number of vehicles at the property at one time. The guests are using the hot tub which is situated in an area that is close to a neighbours bedroom window at unsocial hours, often to 3 am in the morning which is disturbing the neighbours, which includes the next door neighbours who have a young child and whose parents work shifts. The commercial waste is not being collected which has resulted in rats, and smells emanating from the rubbish.

The neighbours were not informed that the property was being used as a holiday let which has caused the parking issues, and the owner has put a no parking sign on the road outside.

They also raised the issue of removal of the wall outside the property and the dropping of the kerbs.

Delyth had made some enquires into this, Chris Evans Conservation Officer has been up the Cottage and confirmed that there is no Planning Permission required to remove the wall because it’s below a metre high, and Chris is happy with the way the works have been completed. Regarding the dropped kerb this does not require Planning permission as it doesn’t cross a footpath. This means technically it isn’t a dropped kerb. The no parking signs are not enforceable and not legal.  If the owner tries to enforce the no parking sign, the neighbours have the option to inform the Police. If a vehicle is parked on the frontage of the property, it is half on the public highway. The cottage is advertised on both Air BnB and Sykes Cottages as having parking, when in reality there isn’t any reserved parking and this needs to be changed on the advertisements. There are also questions about a fence which looks to have been moved, as now cars cannot get up and down Lon Fain and a car has been damaged due to the fence being moved. The Land Registry will need to be checked for the actual boundary, as cars previous to the fence being moved could come up and down Lon Fain for access.
